What an amazing year it has been so far for Platinum One Destinations…. 

As a member of the Synergy Marketing Group Leadership team, I can tell you that being a part of a launch of a company, concept, product, team… has been one of the most thrilling, fascinating, challenging, and rewarding experiences I have participated in and witnessed.

I am proud to be part of such a dynamic organization. And I am so excited for what the future holds for members of Platinum One Destinations and the Synergy Marketing Group.

The official launch of P1D begins TODAY - August 16, 2008. I will be marking this day in my calendar as another of many historic moments for this movement in the travel and direct sales industry.

How is Platinum One Destinations Different From Other Travel Business Opportunities?

In 2008, people looking to start an online travel business have many more options, including Platinum One Destinations, than even just three years ago.

The travel business opportunity marketplace has seen tremendous growth and change.  Especially when it comes to travel business that involves high upfront direct sales commissions. Typically, say 10 years, ago, large upfront profits for selling travel-related products were mainly only available through the time share industry - or the 14-year old opportunity Coastal Vacations, which was one of the first organizations to find a creative way to leverage promotional travel certificates to members through a high-ticket membership that gave members taxes-only trips.

So what is the new breed of high-ticket travel business? It is in DIRECT, online access to wholesale travel and distributor/member support. This new caliber of travel businesses emerging delivers wholesale or “cost” travel through a legitimate, corporate structure, and services its members by connecting them to the lowest pricing available in the travel marketplace, as well as rebating commissions earned to the members. 

While Coastal Vacations enjoyed a unique proposition in the travel and home business marketplace for many years, they still are delivering their travel value through manual promotional, breakage certificates that require submitting three dates, sometimes three locations, postcards, several mailings back and forth between their shipping center for ordering and then receiving certificates, etc.  The only online interface for booking this type of travel is through the travel vendors that offer that - which is far and few between.

Another problem for Coastal Vacations is the manual processing required by distributors. Since there is no centralized processing, and each distributor is independent, they must take orders directly from clients using their own costly merchant accounts, and send in manual paperwork, filling out forms, using fedex to ensure proof of delivery to the shipping center, and sending in money orders (only acceptable payment - no online ordering available for distributors) that must be done at a bank or grocery store, each time they place an order for a client.  And, since there is no member support staff available, the distributor really has no information about tracking the shipments to clients - unless there is a problem with delivery - at which time distributors leave a message and wait for a call back with a tracking number.

With the latest travel businesses out in the marketplace now, such as Platinum One Destinations, online ordering, processing, booking, training, support, and all related services and products are handled online - which is what most people expect in this age of the technology and internet revolution.

The main key factors in choosing any business are as follows:

  • Does the director you join with have good upline support in the event they leave the biz?
  • Does the organization provide duplicable marketing and training materials & systems in online format (as opposed to the individual director - which would require you to adapt and produce materials for your team members)?
  • Is the organization/company itself registered with the Better Business Bureau? Or is each individual sponsor have to register themselves? (If it is based on individuals, one person can ruin the reputation of all distributors)
  • Is the product offered one that you would feel comfortable marketing as a stand-alone product - even if you don’t plan to?
  • Does the company provide a certain amount of free marketing and advertising tools and resources?

Be sure to do your due diligence in the above mentioned areas as well as any other you feel is important. Someone who does not want to answer a certain amount of reasonable questions, or is not willing to bring an upline sponsor in to answer your questions, is most likely someone you do not want to get started with. And especially if you are not comfortable with their answers - go with your intuition - as it always guides you to the right decision.

Synergy Marketing Group - The Morning Motivator Call

One of the key benefits of being part of the Synergy Marketing Group winning direct sales team is that there is daily support - no matter who you join with. There are training calls, team rally calls, webcasts, business briefings, and members-only trainings through the SMG University webcasts where well noted speakers from the direct sales industry visit with us and provide valuable skills and motivational trainings.

One of my favorite, free conference calls offered several times per week is the Morning Motivator call. This call began almost three years ago and was hosted by Mr. Brett Waddell from the Synergy Marketing Group leadership team - which I am also proud to be a part of.

Every day, for three years, Brett hosted this call for all SMG members for 30 minutes Monday through Friday - offering words of wisdom, inspiration, contemplation, and motivation. Honestly I don’t know how he did it for three years EVERY day coming up with interesting content.

Well, Brett has asked for a break… He DOES deserve it - I mean - three years showing up every day to offer motivation to thousands of people with no other intention but to inspire the SMG membership base. So, several of the SMG leaders have stepped in now, once per month, to offer their own motivational messages. And I had that opportunity last week.

Since we were coming off of the 4th of July weekend, I decided to set a theme for the week related to the unalienable rights of all human beings as declared by the declaration of independence - life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness..

I tied in key points from the declaration and wrapped that into how we can celebrate and appreciate the personal freedom every person in direct sales exercises - and how inspiring that in and of itself is..

I recorded two of those special calls and have placed them here on this site. Each one is about 30-40 minutes at length.

Using Social Networking for Your Platinum One Destinations Business

You’ve heard about Facebook, Youtube, Myspace… Maybe you’ve even heard about blogging and other types of social networking media.

The reason for that is because online social networking is THE PLACE TO BE these days… Youtube gets over a BILLION hits per day, and Myspace is up around there too.. And smart business people, if they know how to do it right, can use social networking to promote their offering or services and in most cases completely FREE..

Before you go out though and just blatantly advertise your business using social networking, you need to understand the social networking “etiquette” regarding your business activities when using it. Here are some key points to remember if you are going to promote your Platinum One Destinations business or product in social networking:

1. Offer your expertise and wisdom in your industry - not your product or opportunity - directly.  As you “brand” yourself as an expert in forums, friend lists, groups, blog posts, etc. and provide value to your friends and networks, they will become interested in you and will visit your profile and check out your website links.

2. To make social networking work - you should actively participate in groups, forums, and add friends to your network daily.  The beauty of social networking is that most everyone’s profiles are searchable by the things they are interested in, so you can search for people or groups that like what you like, or maybe will be interested in what you have to offer. 

And, as you get comfortable, you should start your own groups and invite your like-minded friends to join you.  When you moderate a group, you obviously have more credibility as a leader and expert, and you can provide valuable topics of discussions to an active audience more directly.

3. With blogging - if you want to discuss topics around your products and services, and you plan to do alot of back-linking to other websites, your best bet is to NOT use a free hosting service like www.wordpress.com or blogger.

One of the best blogging platforms out there for commercial use blogging is www.wordpress.org - a developer community that freely shares its applications and plugins for the basic wordpress platform. You set up a paid hosting service (you can get them for less than $7 per month), and then install the wordpress platform into your hosting files. From there you can download all kinds of pretty and interesting templates, and all kinds of applications to use with your blog, such as podcasts, contact forms, statistics, widgets, and much much more. 

With a paid-host blog, you won’t have to ever worry about your entire blog being shut down with no notice for breaking the terms of use - which most free blogging services require that you NOT use it for commercial purposes or to build back-links to other websites. (Trust me on this one - it happened to me using wordpress.com).  This blog, and another blog I own, have been built very easily using www.wordpress.org.

So What’s the Deal With Platinum One Destinations Points?

There’s been quite a bit of hub-bub and questioning, especially from Platinum One Destinations competitors, about the point system in P1D. That’s understandable. It’s a new and incredibly exciting concept in the travel industry. So, many want to know..

  • What’s the deal with Platinum One Destinations points?
  • Are the P1D points like timeshare points?
  • Do the points expire?
  • Is the membership lifetime or is it done after using the points?
  • How are the points connected to the NetTrav portal/product?

How are the points connected to the NetTrav portal/product?

All the P1D memberships come with the NetTrav personal travel portal booking engine included for free.

When any travel is booked on NetTrav, you will earn a percentage of the commissions back as cash for the bookings - your own or anyone elses.. A Silver member earns 60%, Gold 70%, and Platinum 80%.. NetTrav-only owners get 50%.  So, let’s say you book a package cruise with airfare and it’s all commissionable at $2,000, and the commissions are 10%, that would be $200 available for payout. If you were a Platinum member, you would receive $160 back in your bank account once the trip has been taken.

Now - you can either take that as cash, OR convert every $100 of commissions into 1,000 P1D membership points.

What is the Best Way to Market a P1D Business?

It’s great to hear the good news that you can make alot of money in an online travel business. You absolutely can! And especially with Platinum One Destinations with direct sale profits from membership sales from $750 up to $7,500 per transaction (not to mention eight other income streams, including residuals).

BUT, everyone knows that to make money - you need to advertise - period.  People who tell you you can just sit in front of your computer and watch the money come in,  are LIEING TO YOU… 

If you don’t have fresh leads to talk to or visits to your website, blog, videos, etc., you don’t have a business. And when you advertise, whether it be in a Platinum One Destinations business or any business, you are constantly performing a balancing act between two things - time and money.

So when people ask me how much they should budget to advertise - the first question I ask them is (you’ve probably already guessed)… “How much time do you have?”… And of course the second question is… “How much money can you invest to generate good prospects and leads?”

There are plenty of free ways to advertise your home based business. And when you use free advertising, you will spend more of your own sweat equity and time to use that method.

There are also very affordable online lead generation programs and some that are quite expensive. Generally, the more you are willing to pay for someone else to do the work for you, the more time you will have for yourself.  And, sometimes inexpensive lead programs are just as good as expensive ones - depending on how you handle them and follow up with them and the vendor you’re using to generate them for you. That’s why it is important to get with a dedicated sponsor in P1D who can help you choose the right program.

The good news is that the Synergy Marketing Group provides you with credible and professional websites, full of content, videos, tracking systems, and back-end business tools so that you don’t have to worry about creating your own marketing materials. All’s you’ve got to do is get people to it!

So, what I suggest to anyone considering an advertising budget for their Platinum One Destinations business just getting started is to do three things. Here they are in order…

First - Plan to run at least 100 new leads through your websites and information per month - minimum, with a goal to get at least 10-15 people who agree to go to your website or online or conference call event. Some top earners run 100 new leads per day through their system - they can do that because they have built a nice income and can fund a larger advertising budget, and/or they are full-time in the business and are able to spend more time.  BUT EVERYONE HAS TO START AT THE SAME PLACE IN P1D - balancing their time and money - and so do you… 

Second - Consider how much time you have to work your business. And think about how you can find and talk to people as part of your regular routine activities (such as mom’s groups, visits to the grocery store, getting your haircut, visits to Starbucks or Barnes & Noble, for instance) where you can make contacts and hand out your business cards and flyers (which should always be readily available in your wallet, purse, and car).

At a minimum, part-time effort, you should plan to spend at least 10-15 hours per week. And of those hours, at least 8-12 of those hours should be spent on revenue-generating activities (meaning handing out biz cards, making dials, following up with prospects via phone or email, etc.)

Then you must look at how much you can accomplish within those 10-15 hours. You will only know this when you get started, and by tracking your numbers. P1D has great tracking documents and tools that are available to everyone, among many training tools, to help you do that.

Once you have an idea of your numbers at the end of one to two weeks, and with continual communication with your sponsor, you will know how much time, and how many people you need to take through the system to make sales and qualify people.

Third - Once you have the information from the second step, you can then determine, based on your advertising budget, and what you can accomplish within the time you have, the right advertising budget for you.  I usually recommend people budget at least $200-$500 per month in the beginning, using a lead generation program for maximum time leverage, if they have the resources. If not, that’s o.k. too. It’s just a matter of recognizing that you will need to put in more time to generate the numbers you need to hit on a weekly basis.

Conscious Capitalism with Platinum One Destinations

In the book Megatrends 2010, Patricia Aburdene, a well-known, credible researcher and analyst, discusses the wave of the future for big business - which believe it or not - is conscious capitalism.

Since network marketing is becoming one of the “biggest” businesses out there for many people around the globe (60 million people starting home based businesses by 2010), I thought it would be good for me to hear what she had to say.

And I was pleased from reading this incredible book that it totally validated my decision to start my journey into direct sales three years ago with the Synergy Marketing Group and now Platinum One Destinations…

Of course I recommend reading the book, and I won’t go into a ton of detail here, but let me just explain to you what conscious capitalism is, and then explain to you how Platinum One Destinations plays a big part in being part of this new revolution..

Patricia defines conscious capitalism as representing 7 major trends taking place as we speak/read.. Here they are:

1. High level executives and CEO’s are openly expressing their spirituality
